Background

Embryo selection for IVF procedures is currently being done by visual characterization and morphological assessment. The use of Artificial intelligence algorithms for selecting the most viable embryos is being considered in IVF Labs. Embryologists are looking for an error-proof method to select healthy embryos predicted to give successful pregnancy outcomes.  

Learning Outcome (LO)

  • LO #1: Data on embryos selected by embryologists and the embryo screening based on artificial intelligence algorithms. In addition to assessment of the key criteria considered for embryo selection, the analysis of pregnancy outcomes will be performed. 
  • LO #2: Advantages for stakeholders and ethical challenges in adapting this technology routinely in clinics will be discussed.
