AI Sleep Coach: Track Your Sleep Patterns for Smarter Rest
Background
This project gives students the opportunity to engage with artificial intelligence (AI), data science, and health monitoring by tackling an issue with immediate relevance to teenagers: sleep quality. It explores the impact of lifestyle factors—like screen time, sleep environment, and bedtime routines—on sleep patterns. The project aims to create an AI-driven system that tracks sleep data and provides tailored suggestions to enhance sleep quality, supporting better health, mood, and academic performance.
Learning Outcome (LO)
- LO #1: AI in Health Monitoring
Understand how AI models can be used to interpret sleep data and generate personalized recommendations, such as optimized bedtimes or reduced screen exposure before sleep. - LO #2: Sleep Science Fundamentals
Learn about sleep stages (REM, deep sleep) and their importance for cognitive and physical recovery, as well as the effects of sleep duration and quality on overall health. - LO #3: Wearable Tech in Sleep Tracking
Gain insights into how wearable devices and sleep apps collect, analyze, and report sleep data, while assessing the accuracy and limitations of these tools.
