Analysis of India’s Electric Vehicle Economy

Background

Electric vehicles (EVs) represent a significant shift toward more sustainable transportation. Their advantages, such as zero tailpipe emissions and reduced operating costs, position them as a solution to reduce air pollution and fossil fuel dependence. The Indian government is promoting EV adoption through various initiatives, including the FAME (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric Vehicles) scheme, offering subsidies and encouraging the development of EV infrastructure. This project aims to study the perceptions, attitudes, and behaviors of Indian consumers regarding the purchase of EVs, providing insights for industry stakeholders and policymakers to enhance EV adoption.

Learning Outcome

  • LO #1: Gain an understanding of consumer perception, attitudes, and behavioral factors driving or hindering the adoption of EVs in India.
  • LO #2: Understand how to apply statistical and thematic analysis techniques using tools like SPSS, MS Excel, or Python for survey data, and NVivo or similar tools for qualitative data.
