Clean Air Patrol: AI to Predict and Protect Against Pollution
Background
This project allows students to engage with a pressing community issue: air quality management. Students will harness artificial intelligence (AI) to forecast air quality based on environmental data, such as weather conditions and pollutant levels. This AI-powered prediction tool will enable communities to better prepare for and mitigate poor air quality conditions, reducing health risks and informing public policy decisions.
Learning Outcome (LO)
- LO #1: Understanding AI in Environmental Forecasting
Learn how AI models, particularly regression and classification techniques, can be applied to analyze environmental factors and predict air quality. - LO #2: Environmental Data Analysis Skills
Develop expertise in collecting, processing, and visualizing large-scale environmental data, including pollutant levels and weather conditions, to identify trends impacting air quality. - LO #3: Public Health and Policy Insights
Gain insights into the impact of pollutants on community health and understand how proactive air quality management can inform and support effective policymaking.
