In vitro models for Fertility Preservation Research

Background

Different strategies to generate in vitro models for Fertility Preservation research will be reviewed. Tissue and Cell based strategies have their own merits and demerits, when considering clinical translation to in vitro systems. Tissue based models ensure structural preservation of in vivo organs, mimicking physiological features. Cell-based models can be manipulated to expand, propagate and culture, or to form co-culture studies to replicate complex functional features of specific organs, or to understand cellular kinetics, morphology and behavior

Learning Outcome (LO)

  • LO #1: Tissue and Cell based models, in addition to three-dimensional systems are being used to study aspects of reproductive organs. Features of various model systems will be discussed.
  • LO #2: One of the in vitro models will be comprehensively studied and available literature will be analyzed using PubMed.
