Microfluidic-based system for Sperm Sorting
inBiology
Background
Microfluidic technology has emerged as an interdisciplinary field for biomedicine, bioengineering and life sciences. This technology is now being used for sperm quantification, sperm quality analysis, sperm manipulation and isolation. Microfluidic-based sorting aids in getting pure sperm populations which can be used for male infertility or ART treatment. Challenges in commercial application and efficacy of this system need to be further reviewed.
Learning Outcome (LO)
- LO #1: Designing Microfluidic-based sperm sorting systems using 3D printing techniques.
- LO #2: Opportunities, hurdles and challenges in commercial application and efficiency of these sperm-sorting systems will be discussed.
