We all know about the solid to liquid phase transition and liquid to gas phase transition. However, we do not know about the gas to plasma transition. Does liquid to plasma transition even exist? We don’t know about the gas to plasma transition because of the absence of an order parameter to define this transition. However, there could be macroscopic as well as microscopic order parameter for this transition. For instance, conductivity and electron number could be two order parameters.
