Synthetic Challenge: Virtual Organic Synthesis
Background
“Synthetic Challenge” offers students an opportunity to step into the role of a chemist in the virtual lab, planning and executing the synthesis of organic molecules. This project introduces the fundamentals of organic synthesis using digital simulations to experiment with various synthetic pathways, allowing students to understand and apply core concepts of organic chemistry.
Learning Outcome (LO)
- LO #1: Enhance understanding of organic chemistry principles and synthetic planning, preparing students for potential careers in pharmaceuticals, materials science, or academic research.
- LO #2: Develop critical problem-solving and analytical skills through the design and execution of synthetic pathways.
