The Impact of Corporate Mental Health Advocacy on Employee Retention Rates

Background

In recent years, organizations have increasingly embraced mental health advocacy as part of their corporate responsibility and employee wellness programs. This includes initiatives like offering mental health days, hosting workshops, or creating supportive policies for mental well-being. While such initiatives are gaining traction, limited research exists on how they directly impact employee retention, particularly in competitive industries where retaining top talent is critical. This project explores whether visible mental health advocacy influences employees’ decisions to stay with a company and examines how the perceived authenticity of these programs affects their effectiveness.

Learning Outcome (LO)

  • LO #1: Understand the link between corporate mental health advocacy and employee retention.
  • LO #2: Explore employees’ perceptions of mental health initiatives, focusing on authenticity and impact.
  • LO #3: Provide actionable recommendations for organizations to develop effective mental health programs that align with employee expectations.
