Tumour Models for Research

Background

Preclinical research models for different kinds of tumors can be developed using various cell types and derived tumorigenic cell lines. In vitro organoid models, and in vivo animal models are commonly used for studying effects of specific tumor types and tumor cells on healthy tissue and organs. Research models aid in understanding the characteristics, heterogeneity and origin of these cells proliferating during tumor progression.

Learning Outcome (LO)

  • LO #1: Developing in vivo and invitro tumor models for research.
  • LO #2: Understanding pathophysiology and tumour progression using one of the models as an example.
