A working model is not an investigatory project

Idea 25 is worth singling out. Indoors, the answer is usually no, because reflected sound keeps arriving from the walls. Measuring that and explaining the reflections beats a graph that looks suspiciously perfect.

Grades 6 to 8 can run ideas 1, 14 and 18 with smaller samples, roughly the level the Young Scholar Program works at.

If you cannot get lab time

What goes into the project file?

A file is marked on completeness as much as on findings. Open with the aim as a question, then the hypothesis and its reasoning. List apparatus with least counts, since a stated least count is what makes error analysis credible. Give the theory, the formula, and a procedure detailed enough to repeat. Put observations in a ruled table with units in the heading, then one worked calculation, labelled graphs, percentage error and a result to sensible significant figures. Close with a numerical conclusion, a limitations paragraph and a bibliography. Naming a limitation strengthens a file: it shows you know where your method loses accuracy.

Turning a class 11 project into something publishable

A practical file is closer to a research paper than students assume, but three things have to change: the question must not already be answered in that form, the data must survive a statistical test rather than an eyeball, and the write-up must engage with published literature rather than a textbook.

Several ideas above carry that weight with more data. Idea 11 becomes a viscosity-temperature study with a fitted model; idea 23 a damping study across bob geometries. The topic rarely decides the outcome.
